Hello! I am Efosa Airuehia MD, the Chief Blogger for AddictionBlueprint. Most of my patients refer to me as Dr Air. I am a quadruple board-certified psychiatrist with certifications in General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. I am a 2017 TopDoc, a 2018 Top Psychiatrist in Frisco and I’m also recognized by The Leading Physicians of The World as a Top Psychiatrist. My psychiatry training commenced in West Midlands School of Psychiatry, Birmingham, England where I obtained my Membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, England (MRCPsych). I subsequently moved to the United States where I completed 3 years of residency training in General Psychiatry and then an additional 2 years of training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the University of Missouri Columbia. During my training, I also received the APA Diversity Leadership Fellowship Award. My residency training was shortly followed by my board certifications in Addictions Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. I am an Honorary Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, Member of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, Member of the Clinical TMS Society and Member of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. I am currently in clinical practice and actively see patients. Providing addiction and mental health education, recommendations and accessibility is my mission and passion. My clinical experience has exposed me to a wide array of cases and I never cease to be amazed at how different these cases can be. I am constantly reminded of the need to individualize treatment as no two cases are exactly alike. It is in this light that I provide my content for this blog. I hope it serves as a great source of information and help to all who need it. In addition to clinical treatment, writing about various addiction and mental health issues is my little way of providing help and support to those in need. In addition to the publications in this blog, below are some of my other publications on addiction and mental health.
The goal of this blog is to provide as much information on various illicit substances of abuse and mental health conditions, recommendations, increase accessibility to treatment options, and very importantly, spark some discussion on these very important issues. I am open to your comments, discussions, suggestions and constructive criticisms. Guest postings are welcome.
